Chelsea Real Estate Profile
Chelsea is a picture-perfect town with a flourishing retail and residential center. Homebuyers are attracted to its pleasant, tree-lined streets, parks and air of history.

Food processing, book crafting and a major auto proving ground contribute to the economic base. The Chelsea Milling Company has been supplying America's kitchens with Jiffy cake and muffin mixes since 1930. Major landmarks include the Clock Tower, Depot, and Courthouse. A Sidewalk Festival and the Chelsea Community Fair are held in August.

Chelsea, MI Local History
Chelsea was first settled in 1820 by Cyrus Beckwith and Elisha and James Congdon. Elisha named the city after his hometown in Massachusetts. The Michigan Central Railroad established a station here in 1850, on the Detroit-Chicago line. The 1880s-era railroad depot was restored in 1980 and today serves as a village museum.
